I'm going to take a guess and say that Randy doesn't have the room or need for them, but I could be wrong.
How about you minimus, don't you ever get the urge to read a hard copy of the 1984 Watchtower magazine?

I have recently decided that it's time to let go. I no longer need this stuff and am not interested in using it to research the past. I'm just beyond it. I just deleted 20+ GB of Watchtower related junk off my computer. Now I'm looking to do the same with the physical crap.
I have lots of bound volumes between the years 1950 to early 2000's. Not a complete set, but close. Loads of books including old stuff I've found at used book stores and the like. Not the most massive collection, but large none the less.
I was thinking of one big lot on ebay. I figured I'd let my buddies over at JWD get it for free if they want this junk. If not off to ebay...
Local pick up would be excellent (i'm in pittsburgh, pa). I'll ship it to you but you got to pay for shipping. Just want this stuff out of my house.

Very sorry to hear of your situation. It's an all to common senario within the WT.
At this point you may want to consider rethinking your approach. JWs will typically put up that wall to arguments against the faith. The issues are complex but because of fear and pride they will resort to simple arguments that label all situations as black and white, good vs. evil, true or false.
One idea is to figure out what your boundries are and then use that as a starting point. Rather than trying to convince the other person that the WTS is incorrect in its teachings you instead simply be honest as to where you are. The key would be to use the boundries you have already set (such as, I can go to a meeting a week but not 3) as a guide. When arguments about "but they are the only religion because..." you divert "that may prove something to you and if that's how you feel then go with it, but it no longer works for me so lets compromise".
I started to do this a little bit towards the end of me and my wifes experience with the Watchtower. Rather than focusing on trying to "get her out" i simply started asserting what I would and would not do. Eventually she followed me out. I was amazed to hear the negative stuff she said about the Watchtower after I simply made up my mind.
Keep in mind that for other people they may attempt such compromise and still end up with arguments and broken relationships. There is not "right" way to go about this, but I am of the opinion that arguments about the WTS usually fail. You have many factors to consider

No One Should Be Made to Choose ..LIES from July 09 Awake

Just a bit more perspective here: From what religious cults did the followers of Jones and Waco initially come? Mainstream religious groups from which they eventually deviated and formed cults. Why compare JWs to these extreme groups when there is no evidence that this is what is happening in the Watchtower?
Additionally, physically destructive cults tend to isolate people physically. This is an impossibility for the Watchtower. Yes they have high concentrations of members in their HQ facilities, but that's the limit. I suppose you could believe that there is some sort of danger within that context, but I wouldn't.

Black Sheep, this article is a bit differant from the one you quote.
In the 88 article it is a person speaking through their own voice. Yes it is used by the WT to convey somewhat the same point but in the current article it is direct Watchtower language that is not hidden behind quotes from members. To my knowledge this new article is more brazen than anything I've seen the Watchtower publish in rescent years.

I am speechless. Being so renowned and supportive of shunning, what possible reason could the writer have for including such doublespeak?
I agree. I believe this article without a doubt shows how confused the leadership of Jehovah's Witnesses really is. Any deep discussion on shunning would show that they hold a double standard, and to let material of this nature to be published shows either a kind of arrogence like no other or complete ignorance of logic.
It should be also noted that all of the actions regarding freedom are credited to "god". The actions of the organization are not referanced at all. This gives the false impression that the JWs are more liberal than they really are.

You might not like some of the things that happened in the bible but it leaves you under no allusions regarding life in a fallen world.
Thanks for telling me how I feel about it.
If you are trying to say that the bible tells Christians to do bad things then you are way off base.
Since you didn't read my first sentence I'll state it again, only this time I'll say it about Christianity as well as Islam. Islam (& Christiantiy) means to many differant things to too many people to put out blanket claims. I would also argue that for many (not all but many) these traditions are not the be all end of all for peoples beliefs. In Western countries we have the Christian heritage, but also the enlightenment (among other things). We reinterpret what religion means to us all the time. The same happens withing the gigantic tent of Islam. I hate to used a tired old sterotype but when one researches a bit about the Christian crusades and the capturing of Jerusalem one finds an interesting difference in some instances as to how the Muslims treated their captives as opposed to the Christians.
People can take from their holy books whatever they like to construct and defend the belief that they want to hold. If you want to try and argue that the entire Bible has a pure and uniform message that can be articulated and explained in a logical so that it is completely moral then we're simply have to agree to disagree I'm way beyond believing in such idealistic fabrications.

The objective of this video is to tell us that "muslims" are taking over Western Civilization. Which ones? Islam is to many things to too many people to put out blanket claims like this
Nothing more than fear mongering. Additinally it does not address the issue of secularization.
The Qur'an is not peaceful, have a read for yourself and neither are the core Islamic doctrines. They are after one world, one faith, one god and his name is Allah. Worship or else :(
But when we find this stuff in the Bible it's ok right?

Yearbook 2009 claims Witness offical Website is a huge hit! What about us?
by Witness 007 inyearbook p.8 says watchtower.com "94 persons a day submit: would you welcome a visit?
in 2008 audio versions of publications were made avalible in 17 languages...there are many examples of people who looked up "jehovah's witnesses" on the net and came into the truth, but how many do you think have joined up here?

I don't doubt that they get that many requests, in all actuality however I think that the numbers provided show how little the Watchtower utilizes the internet. You have a worldwide organization that has spent billions in printing and facitily construction (core to their "preaching work") as well as hundreds of millions of hours in volunteer outreach and all they get is around 90 people a day that have "interest"? Lame.
